Our Wedding

We've been told we're internet famous in our small circles because we've already shared our relationship from inception to present in "mostly" real time via social media. While we've both faded in our participation, I am going to share some highlights (especially for those who missed it).

2020 If you recall, we were all sequestered to our homes, and the internet was a lifeline.

This guy and this gal decided to meet (socially distanced, of course).

He saw her doing weird shit......

So, they enjoyed this silent world by doing weird shit together.....

And, there was the Jinxy......a sweet heart more endearing than me.

Soon we were a family.....

The world reopened and we could experience the outside world again.We could do things, go places, and see people.

I began working at a non-profit and Vinnie built Super-Talls.

Christmas and New Year's Eve...

And, of course, there was music for all the necessary healing. We had lost alot, but we tried to focus on what we had gained.

Our world expanded with new things and places.

For Julie's 50th birthday, Vinnie planned an exciting trip to New Orleans, LA. The state where her life began.

And, on the mighty Mississippi, a steamboat dinner cruise, unexpectedly became the promise of forever.

Directions To The Venue

By Public Transportation: Arrive onto Roosevelt Island by subway on the M train, or for a unique view of the city, take the aerial tramway from Manhattan to Roosevelt Island. You can also arrive by the Astoria Line ferry (catch it from Long Island City or lower Manhattan).Once on Roosevelt Island, there is a free red Shuttle Bus that loops around the island. Catch it at the public transportation hub and take it to the Octagon stop (888 Main Street). The Sanctuary is a 3-minute walk toward the river to our 851 Main Street address. Walk through the small parking lot of the Octagon (you’ll walk by tennis courts and a baseball field on your left, Octagon on your right). Turn right at the stop sign and follow the road down toward the river to reach The Sanctuary around the corner on your left; it’s a dead-end road.Instead of the Shuttle Bus, you can also walk along the beautiful Westside waterfront promenade park (alongside the Manhattan skyline) until you pass the pier that looks like a boat bow; The Sanctuary will be on the right. The walk is a leisurely 15 minutes. Driving: The Sanctuary is tucked away on the northwest waterfront of Roosevelt Island, past the Octagon residential buildings. There is parking directly on site, with additional spots a 90 second walk from the venue. There is also the Motorgate parking garage on the island available for longer term parking.Uber/taxi drop-off is easiest at the Octagon by the red shuttle bus stop. Then it’s a 3-minute walk through the small parking lot of the Octagon (you’ll walk by tennis courts and a baseball field on your left, Octagon on your right). Turn right at the stop sign and follow the road down toward the river to reach The Sanctuary around the corner on your left; it’s a dead-end road.

Nearby Reasonable Hotels

Long Island City, Queens Directly across the only bridge to access Roosevelt Island by car (or Uber), and easily accessible by subway, is Long Island City. Home to MoMA PS1, the former location of the famous 5 Pointz, classic award winning craft cocktail bar Dutch Kills, and more. I found a few reasonably priced hotel options for our out-of-towners to serve as a starting point for booking your stay. While we would have loved to share a hotel block, options were very limited. I am happy to help with any questions you may have about this and other areas. Tram The Roosevelt Island Tramway provides the most modern aerial tramway in the world, running every 7.5-15 minutes from 59th Street and Second Avenue in Manhattan to Tramway Plaza on Roosevelt Island. Please note that the passengers must exit the tram at each stop (either Manhattan bound or Roosevelt Island bound) and pay again to return to the other side. Hours of OperationSunday through Thursday: 6 AM - 2 AMFriday and Saturday: 6 AM - 3:30 AMRush Hour ServiceMorning Rush Hours (Monday through Friday every 7.5 minutes): 7 AM - 10 AMEvening Rush Hours (Monday through Friday every 7.5 minutes): 2:30 PM - 8 PMWeekend Rush Hours (Saturday and Sunday every 7.5 minutes): 7 AM - 10 PM During all regular/non-rush hours, the tram will run every 15 minutes.
